I still remember how easy it was to use it.
I opened my box and found these cute gadgets well-packaged with everything from the actual products to the batteries and user manual inside.
I could attach them to any clubs I wanted to train with, set up the ideal speed, and Voila! That was it! I was ready to start training.
The biggest WOW point...is that it actually works like my real golf clubs.
So I've been playing competitive golf all my life, and I naturally used a TON of golf training aids. This one is simply like no other. All other training aids I used never worked, felt, and looked anything like my golf clubs. Sure, exaggeration is a big factor in improving your swing, but you are going to need lessons and professional guidance to make sure the exaggeration isn't going to kill your swing instead.
So what golfers really needed, in fact, wasn't a training aid that was going to cause more confusion and end up getting more lessons to get the confusion cleared up. What we needed was a training aid that was going to let us teach ourselves. In that aspect, FireImpact6 is the ultimate training tool golfers can find on the market.
Finding your current max club head speed
Before training to start improving your distance, you must know where your starting point is. There are two ways to know your club head speed. One, use a launch monitor to get an average of your speed. If that isn't too accessible, you can always use your FireImpact6 to get your current max speed.
Attach the gadget to your driver and swing at least ten times. If you can get more than 90% of your swings to light the gadget up comfortably, the target speed is probably a little too slow for you. When you get 3-5 successful tries out of 10, that's usually a good starting point. For me, that was 90 mph.
Setting up your expectations
Now that we have a good starting point, let's plan our journey to our target point. My target was 98 mph. Did I know I would reach it in 2 weeks or less? Absolutely not. I was hoping maybe in a month or so because that's when my season was starting. But here's the thing. I practice golf for more than 8 hours a day. This is my job, but that isn't the case for everyone.
Still, I have seen other users who practice less than 2 hours a day witness massive improvements like I did. So the most important mindset is to have a clear and realistic expectation for your goals and pace of improvement. Once you have them set, swing like crazy!
Recording your improvements
Recording your improvements, using them as feedback, and applying changes to your program is vital for effective and efficient training. As for me, I used Trackman to record and analyze my data as accurately as possible. For those who do not have access to Trackman or other gadgets, just use your good old pen and paper (or your excel sheet) to record your improvement. Below are the improvement records after 2 weeks of FireImpact Golf Training Protocol.
As you can see from the Trackman data, I improved my driver's swing speed by greater than 6 mph in less than two weeks. This was beyond surprising to me, especially since I'm a Tour player in LPGA. I thought that my swing speed was capped at my current physical capabilities. Apparently, I proved myself wrong.
Mixing plyometrics, strength trainings, and golf speed trainings with FireImpact6 and FireImpact Golf Swing Speed Training Protocol truly uncapped my potential. Right now, after two months of training, I comfortably swing at 98-100 mph, and that's more than enough to consistently position myself for an aggressive second shot for birdie and eagle.
Training both speed and accuracy
Speed and distance aren't the only two factors that improve your game. Accuracy and consistency are two other extremely important factors of the game. I love that FireImpact6 helps me train all aspects of the game.
This is exactly how I practiced my driver swing with FireImpact6. You can easily mimic this set up using wood tees on grass ranges. You can even use rubber tees in your neighborhood's outdoor range mat to follow this exact setup. I try to avoid hitting the black plastic tee in the image above because that helps with fixing my outward takeaway. During the downswing and impact phase, I try to hit both rubber tees to make sure I'm extending through impact and not pulling or flipping instead. With this setup, I not only improved speed and distance, but also decreased my area of dispersion by practicing accuracy and consistency.
So that's it! I hope that helped everyone get a better idea of how this product can help improve your golf swing! I heard that they are going to launch this practice mat into a package product soon, so make sure to keep your head out for the news because this is the exact setup that helped me improve my speed and distance so drastically.
